Happy Independence Day!
mood: x_x
listening to: sucky Japanese news
gaijin count: 32
Hello bloggers, and Happy Independence Day!! Today I am sporting my american flag T-shirt, that although will probably attract even more Gaijin Stares, it is quite cool.
Yesterday turned out to be more productive than I thought. The shopping, of course, turned out to be grocery shopping at a store called Frante or Ferante or something. In the store I got a box of Corn Flakes. Well, it's basically corn flakes. I mean, it has the tiger and all, and it's Kelloggs, but here they call them "Corn Frostiess"! Isn't that weird? Also Host Madre said that they were mainly for kids. They had like two kinds of normal cereal. The Corn Frosties and the Cocoa Pebble looking things. Although I love Cocoa Pebbley things, I wanted to be at least semi healthy.
We also saw a Sumo in the store. It was about time I see one of those! He was dressed in that Sumo garb (NOT the loin cloth thing) and had that Sumo bun, and was getting, obviously, FOOD. It was trés interesting.
Then we went to the little panya corner to get some bread, when I realized one of the cashiers was (GASP) a gaijin!? It was trés weird. I did not have her as my cashier though. I was wondering why someone would come all the way to Japan to work in a grocery store panya when I realized she was probably a student making a little money to live on. Or something. Hmmm...
Then we came back and I was exhausted. I dunno why. So after I finished that horrible waste of paper known as Catcher in the Rye, I decided to take a little nap. I told Rei to wake me up at 5:30. The next thing I knew, it was 7:00!! Lololol. I felt nice and refreshed though, kinda. It was nice. I love naps. ^.^
Then we had shabu-shabu-whotsis called thing for dinner. It was pretty good, but once again, I was totally not hungry.
Oh yeah! I also finished the first paragraph of Harry Potter in Japanese. OK, so it only consists of 2 sentences totaling 3 lines of paper, but hey! I'm proud of myself. I actually understand! <3<3 The second sentence was a bit easier than the first, although it was a a bit longer.
THEN, the best thing happened. STAR WARS EPISODE IV WAS ON TV!! YES!! It's about time they showed something decent on channel 11. If only those other BS channels (yes, I'm not kidding you - two of our like 5 ot 6 TV channels are called BS 1 and BS 2. I cracked up) would do the same.
So I was like in heaven here. Except it was weird, because in the beginning they skipped some fleeting scenes. Like when Beru told Luke to make sure the droid could speak Bocce, and when C3P0 waved at the Jawa cruiser thing for help and whatnot. But besides those two things, it was really good. However, we couldn't get the Japanese subtitles to work for the Host Fam, so I was having to explain some stuff to Host Madre XD. It was funny because she was like "They speak too fast!!" ROFL. MUAHAHAHA. ENGLISH LESSON FOR J00!! Erhem.
Anyways, it was nice watching Star Wars. And YAPPARI next week Empire Strikes Back is on. YES!
Ok, I have to go to school now.

location: Nagoya, Japan
blurb: I'm an American High School girl spending 6 weeks in Nagoya, Japan.
Yes, I know Tokyo Tower isn't in Nagoya, but since I've never been to Nagoya before
(stopping briefly at the train station doesn't count, OK??) I couldn't find any
good pictures that represent it well. Which brings me to my point: I'm a newbie to Nagoya.
(thus the name, nagoya n00b. am I not the cleverest person you've ever met?) Anyways, bear
with me people. This is going to be a long six weeks!
