YAY! Erin has a social life!!

mood: x___x
listening to: Japanese chatters
gaijin count: 56 (!?!?)

WOW. Today was SUCH a good day. But before I get to today, I must give a little recap of last night's baseball extravaganzaaaaaa~!

So it was just me and Host Madre. We took the Meijo Line to Nagoya Dome. Then we walked through this passageway that lead straight to the dome. I proceeded then to see about 8 gaijin. All at once! It was trés weird.

Anyways, when we reached the dome the first thing I noticed was that it was very very clean. I know I should be used to the cleanliness of this country by now (besides that fact that people STILL smoke in buildings...but that is besides the point) but it never ceases to amaze me. Another thought I had about the dome was how it reminded me of America a little. Except cleaner and a lot more Japanese people.

We eventually got to our seats, and pratically as soon as we sat down Host Madre ordered a beer. How typical. >.> She's ALWAYS drinking. (she had two HUGE beers...) I also ordered a coke (YES! I had't had soda in a while), and we started to watch the game.

I was mildy surprised that the Chunichi DORAGONS had 3 gaijin! 2 c00l black d00ds from America (Tyrone Woods and somethinerother Alex), and then some hispanic d00d from the Dominican Republic or something (Martinez). Host Madre said she had seen Woods in Yagoto once walking his dog. I wonder if these gaijin get sick of living in Japan for so long. I wonder if they live here all year round??

Now, Japanese baseball games are a tad different than that of their American counterparts. For starters, although they do have hamburgers, hot dogs and french fries, the majority of Japanese people who go to these games get these giant obentos. o.O;;; I, of course, had a mouth watering craving for some real American food, and since hot dogs are sort of a tradition in America to eat at baseball games, I got one of those. I also had some french fries, fried chicken (mind you these are smaller portions), and some popcorn. I also tried some miso katsu somethingerother that is apparently famous here. It was pretty good, but I stuck to my sort of dry hot dog (not enough mustard. DAMN.)

So, of course, the DORAGONS lost. But oh well. What was really annoying...well, just picture this:

bottom of the 9th, 3 balls, 2 strikes, 2 outs. The bases weren't loaded, but they may as well have been. DORAGONS had 1 point, and the Giants had 2.

Now picture this: the last batter fouled probably like 8 times. Or more. Like 10. So we were sitting there pitch after pitch and foul after foul for like 7 minutes! UGH! Finally the DORAGONS lost. It was a relief.

We ended up meeting Host Padre near the dome, and we went to a conbini and got some crap for breakfast. By the time we got home it was 10:15 or 10:30...and I still had a bunch of work to do. Since I had asked for extra work and actually GOTTEN it. o.O;

OK! To today!

When I woke up this morning, I was tireder than ever. I pressed the sn00ze button like 10 thousand times. I also had a really weird dream that involved me, Fanny Pack (OH GOD HELP ME NOW...), Sonoma DrummerBoy, Kind of Tall, some other people from AFS in Nagoya, the new Harry Potter book coming out, and an airport bookstore. I don't really remember it, but I think it symbolized! something that was to come in my day. Sorta.

I eventually got up and got dressed. Since I was running slightly later than usual, I didn't have time to blog this morning. However, I DID manage to catch the 8:58 subway today! =DD

When I got to school we had Airheaded-But-Nice&Cute-Sensei (I added & cute because she is SO cute and is really funny in a cute way...plus she's my favourite out of the 3) and she even gave us more extra work today. YAY! KANJI!

At lunch I opened my obento and decided that I had had enough. So I joined a group of people consisting of HAL, Cubic Cube, Kind of Tall, Flaming Red, LORNE, Sister Sister #2, and Hot Japanese One who were going to the conbini next door to the Dainagoya Building (the building we're in). I bought a box of Pocky and those little choco tree thingies, and had those for lunch. MMM!! Although I did eat the cherries in my obento. LOL. It was fun though. I like hanging out with that group. HAL, Cubic Cube, and Flaming Red went to PokéPark yesterday (YES, there is a Pokémon Park. *coughIreallywantogocough*) and had these cute Pokémon hats on. Cubic Cube had a Pikachu one that everyone was wearing throughout the day, HAL had a cute blue hat that was probably some water Pokémon, and Flaming Red had a green one that was probably some leafy Pokémon. Anyways, it was really funny because they kept on wearing their hats all day and they just looked hilarious. XDD You kinda had to be there.

Anyways, after the conbini we went back inside, and everyone gathered in the B class classroom to eat. (How convinient!) I talked with them for a while. It was really funny because LORNE had the Pikachu hat on, and he looked FUCKING HILARIOUS. Like, I cannot describe how amazing that was. XDD It was really fun.

After classes ended, the group invited me to go karaoke-ing with them. I accepted, and so we were off! One of the teachers drew this intense map for Flaming Red that lead us to the karaoke place. The group consisted initially of 8: me, Flaming Red, Cubic Cube, Kind of Tall, BeBe, HAL, LORNE, and Sister Sister #2. We all walked out into Nagoya and it was so amazing. One, because I had never been out of the Dainagoya building and into the actual city of Nagoya. Secondly because I felt so independent! Third because I was with a bunch of friends, and it felt so GOOD to be SOCIAL! At least social with someone besides Rainbow Girl, who it really nice, yet rather antisocial. (Plus her Japanese voice really gets on my nerves...it's all high and fake and stumbly...o.O;;) Anyways, after about 10 or so minutes, we found the karaoke place. We went into this building and took the elevator (it had carpet *coughwithsomecigaretteburnsinit* in it and lights that changed all different colors) and paid for the karaoke room. It only cost 2000 yen for 8 people! O_O It was really fun. There were so many songs to choose from, and we goofed off so much. It was amazingly fun. I hadn't had this much fun since I came. About an hour in, I offered to go to HAL to go and fetch Hot Japanese One, since he moved up to a higher class, and his classes go from 1 to 5. By the time we got back we only had a half hour left. At the very end, the last song we sang was "Forever Love" by X Japan. It was so cool because we all love that song. It was really sad because it is a sad song, but it was hilarious because when we got to a part where there was a kanji that we didn't know, and it didn't have hiragana above it, we were all like "dfiojewfnemffwekm..." until it got back to hiragana that we knew or the chorus "FOREVER LOVE! FOREVER DREAM!" It was SO fun!

After 2 hours of karaoke, some people left. I stayed with Flaming Red, Kind of Tall, HAL, Japanese One, and BeBe. We had some Mister Donut, and sat outside of a McDonalds to eat. ^.^ Then I realized it was 5:45 and I had to leave. So Flaming Red and Kind of Tall and I proceeded to the Dainagoya Building once more. However, on the way we passed a hot Japanese guy sleeping, and Flaming Red after another block couldn't stand it, and had to go back to take a picture with Hot Japanese One and HAL in it. Since I didn't have that kind of time, I made the rest of my way home hitori de. It was fine, though, since I got back before 7. LOL.

When I got home, things got even better, since I got a letter from Korean Eileen! So I am going to write her back ASAP.

Anyways, that was my day! Too bad I have JAAAAAAAAAAAAA-Sensei tomorrow. XP

For now,
-Erin

Erin managed to blog @ 7:30 PM

+about me+

name: Erin
location: Nagoya, Japan
blurb: I'm an  American High School girl spending 6 weeks in Nagoya, Japan. Yes, I know Tokyo Tower isn't in Nagoya, but since I've never been to Nagoya before (stopping briefly at the train station doesn't count, OK??) I couldn't find any good pictures that represent it well. Which brings me to my point: I'm a newbie to Nagoya. (thus the name, nagoya n00b. am I not the cleverest person you've ever met?) Anyways, bear with me people. This is going to be a long six weeks!
